Did you know you need a permit to hold a protest rally in NYC? MTG didn't know that

Okay but having a permit to protest takes away the whole point of protesting...
@HannibalAteMeOut Yeah let's just cause a blockade on a road/airport and inconvenience everyone else to support a cause the majority don't agree with.
HannibalAteMeOut · 26-30, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic so do you think there should be some kind of poll before deciding to protest about something to see how many people agree and then act accordingly? Hahah
So what's the difference with a dictator, if I need a permit to express my opinion within a democracy? Let's say the government's choices don't represent me, the main media are paid off and don't express my opinions either, the letters I've been sending are being ignored, what am I supposed to do?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic just a quick question. Were you against the queen's funeral as well, because the roads were blocked then too?
HannibalAteMeOut · 26-30, F
@basilfawlty89 "don't go on strike cause that could be inconvenient 😔" almost... as if that's the point? Hahahah
@BritishFailedAesthetic also whether the majority agrees or not will be shown at the protest. Obviously if only a hundred people protest it's barely going to block one street lol
@HannibalAteMeOut Ok, well when you next go on holiday, be it with your family, partner or friends hope there is a massive tailback of traffic from a protest and you miss your flight lol
@basilfawlty89 Oh please.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic just answer the question, mate.
@basilfawlty89 Ok. No it was the Queen's funeral, a major event in our history, a beloved monarch who reigned with nothing but pure grace. I think that is more important than purple haired screeching little snowflakes who have toddler style tantrums.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic but that similarly inconvenienced traffic, people missed their routes to work, flights, etc. Wasn't that your main point of contention?

Is it really because you're against the inconvenience of blocked traffic, or that you're against the protesters?
HannibalAteMeOut · 26-30, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic
hope there is a massive tailback of traffic from a protest and you miss your flight lol
I've actually had a flight canceled because of airlines on strike. No big deal to me. I just took the bus which was 12 hours. I hope the workers got what they were demanding.

@BritishFailedAesthetic
purple haired screeching little snowflakes who have toddler style tantrums.
so that's your idea of protesters. Never seen teachers, healthcare workers, farmers, transportation workers, delivery guys etc have you?
The only snowflake here is you, being upset about missing a hypothetical flight while on hypothetical vacation 😂
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@HannibalAteMeOut see this is why the right amuse me. He just got mad at a made up protestor that exists solely in his head.

Obviously the real problem in society is hair dye, and not, you know, unemployment, low wages, etc.
@basilfawlty89 @HannibalAteMeOut Believe it or not strikes don't anger me. I am a complicated person.
HannibalAteMeOut · 26-30, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic strikes often come with protests
@HannibalAteMeOut Purple haired trust fund kids are different to working class people who need a wage increase.
HannibalAteMeOut · 26-30, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic okay lol but you were talking about it as if it's a common occurrence that "trust fund kids" are blocking airports 😂 like where is this happening dude?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic does this scenario exist outside your head by chance?
@basilfawlty89 @HannibalAteMeOut I'm predominantly reffering to XR, etc protestors. I'm not just going along with blocking airports, I mean in general.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic what's an XR protester?
@basilfawlty89 Extinction Rebellion
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic
Extinction Rebellion is a UK-headquartered global environmental movement, with the stated aim of using nonviolent civil disobedience to compel government action to avoid tipping points in the climate system, biodiversity loss, and the risk of social and ecological collapse.

Well they don't sound that bad, do they? They're not violent and I'd say preserving our planet is a viable cause.
@basilfawlty89 Just another climate alarmist group.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic okay, let's for a moment say it's as you say, alarmist. I disagree with that and the majority of scientists don't agree with that. But let's set that aside. Don't they, as part of a democratic society, have a right to protest?
HannibalAteMeOut · 26-30, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic so a group you don't like protests and you think that's enough reason to give the government power to decide who, when & where has the right to protest? That kinda reeks fascism and makes any government no better than a dictator. Whether that's in NYC, the UK or anywhere else.
@basilfawlty89 Yeah but not to disrupt normal people who can't rely on trust funds, getting to work.
