After about a year with the RNC, Verastigui took a job with the Senate. He started as a digital director for the congressional Joint Economic Committee before becoming the senior digital strategist for the Senate Republican Conference.

Verastigui pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography after being arrested in February as part of an ongoing federal investigation.
