Trump was inevitable. Remember the woman waiving the birth certificate in the air at a town hall back in 2008? John McCain having to correct people at his rallies about Obama and temper the flames? The whole tea party thing? That eventually turned into Trump, and when he launched his birth certificate search, the tea baggers found their frontman, and Trump lapped it up like flies on shit.

And I will still say much of the issue was that Obama didn't look like previous presidents. Sure, he was democrat and liberal, but the paternal heritage drove them over the edge. People *personally* admitted this to me - and not just a couple people. Obama got elected, and to them America was no longer the white Christian democracy it once was (they didn't call it a Republic back then). Those teabaggers(now Trumpeteers) have been fighting this boogeyman ever since.
