I'm sorry but the assumption that all politicians are conniving is just so wrong. A whole lot of men and women commit their lives to make the lives of others better. And the vast majority make shit money compared to what they'd make in the private sector.
And as far as career politicians? That IS their career. Just like any other occupation. You don't hire an electrician to fix the plumbing. The amount of work, and details about that work, is handled by people with experience for a reason.
I think the better alternative might be to point the spotlight back on the PEOPLE who vote for shitty, conniving politicians. You know, those who are committed to destroying Democracy and hurting others for their own gain.
Do you know what the midterm turnout was for 18-29 year olds? 27 percent. And that was high.
70% of your generation couldn't be bothered with taking ten freaking minutes to fill out a ballot and put it in the mail. I don't know about you but that disgusts me.
PEOPLE determine the government. So maybe your gripe is with people.

@Ynotisay Agreed 100%. But I will admit that in my 20s, I would have loved to see a political novice in high offices simply to shake up the status quo. Now I see the error in that thinking.

@trollslayer That's totally understandable. I was the same way in my early 20's. It's a time when you want action and think it can happen immediately. Then you learn how the sausage gets made and it tempers expectations.
