Yes, but in order to have it, we'd have to put a cap on how much money people could donate to politicians.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@BohemianBabe i'm all for that. how about $20
BohemianBabe · M
@SusanInFlorida The average campaign donation to Bernie Sanders was $18. So yeah, I'd absolutely support a $20 cap.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@BohemianBabe i'd disqualify sanders, biden, and trump automatically on age. there are too many codgers who are out of touch already. don't give them more power
BohemianBabe · M
@SusanInFlorida I think Sanders is more in tune with Americans that most of the politicians younger than him.
Are the majority of old people terrible when it comes to politics? Definitely. But when it comes to elections, we get to evaluate people as individuals. I say cap campaign donations, end the electoral college, and the best person will win.

@BohemianBabe he's not in tune with me. i don't want higher taxes, higher deficits, and more legalized drugs. those aren't doing us any good
BohemianBabe · M
@SusanInFlorida He only wanted to raise taxes on the rich. And he wanted to cut subsidies and bailouts for the rich, which would have saved lots of money.
As for legalized drugs, personally, I say if you're an adult, you can do what you want with your own body. But also, countries that have decriminalized drugs actually have less drug use, since there's no gangs pushing drugs on kids.

@BohemianBabe lets tax everyone 15% of their income. ditch all the deductions for
1. home mortgages
2. vacation homes
3. yachts
4. state and local taxes
5. tuition
6. medical bills
7. investment losses
and so on
treat everybody the same, and lose 25,000 pages of special interest tax dodges that require us to have professional tax prep

@SusanInFlorida That would cause an even bigger wealth gap than we have now.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@BohemianBabe yeah. but who cares? I don't want to rob people who are hard workers, shrewd investors, or entrepreneurs. the politics of envy and confiscation don't work anywhere
BohemianBabe · M
@SusanInFlorida Most rich people are born into wealth. They're not hard workers or that smart.
Besides, taxing the rich to fund social programs benefits everyone.
