@fakable Lots of other people's behaviour doesn't fit my world view either; I don't go around murdering them because of it so I doubt that that is the whole of the reason.

the reason is this.

just think about what the average person's worldview is made up of.

an example...

religious egregors. a person stands under the flag of an authoritative opinion. this removes from the person the responsibility for the action taken.

to have one's own opinion, one must be able to assess the world. to do this, one must know a lot and be able to process this knowledge correctly. most people cannot do this.

such people live under the influence of aggregors. they are people of the crowd. they have no personal opinion and no personal picture of the world. read durgheim, for example.

to change the behavior of these people you do not have to change every one of them. that is the majority of the population of the earth. it is difficult and useless. you have to change the social aggregors.

you have to destroy all the obsolete ideological flags that these people have been raised under.

if you do it naturally, it's a long, multigenerational endeavor.

there are other ways, but I will not talk about them.
