I don't want to say I told you so, but...

I've been saying for months that polls show the vast majority of Americans want abortion access. I've been saying for months that the border issues really are nothing new for those who have been alive a few decades, and that the majority of Americans do not see this as a major issue. I've been saying for months that the majority of Americans have strong negative opinions of Donald Trump. I've been saying for months that the vast majority of Americans know the 2020 election was secure and not "stolen" and that the January 6th hearings are important, and people need to be held accountable.

But you nimrods on here tried to tell me that all wasn't true and continues to shovel Trumps crap into your body like it was ice cream.

Well, here we are, and even with bad inflation and weak Democrat candidates, there is a chance that the GOP will not even retake the House of Representatives. And you folks on here are still trying to spin things and still trying to blow the trump horn rather than have a little self reflection.

For the record, MANY of us middle of the road folks really only have a beef with Trump himself, and people like Boebert and Tayolr-Greene. Ron DeSantis is a bit too far right for me personally to vote for, but he is not in the same clown car as Trump, and therefore palatable to more people in the middle. Trump really stands no chance of getting elected again, and his entry into the race will ensure a fractured GOP and a likely Democrat win in two years.

If Trump could put aside his ego (he won't because he can't) he would announce that he is not running, and that he is passing the torch of his movement to someone else, and that he would help that someone else get elected. It would be a guaranteed GOP win, but Trump's ego will ensure another loss.

As I read various statistics about why this midterm was different, without the sitting President's party taking a big hit as it usually does, the one that strikes me as the most interesting is the following. There have been various opinion polls showing Biden has unfavorable ratings, but the group that responds "mildly unfavorable" actually leaned Democrat in the way they voted this year.

I think that vindicates what you are saying. A lot of people who are displeased with Biden were even more displeased with some of what was offered to them last Tuesday. I think a less Trumpish slate of Republicans could have won their votes.

@DrWatson Yeah, I can't estimate the percentage, but some statistically significant fraction of that disapproval in the polls is because the left is starting to get an actual voice in this country again and we find Biden to be a center-right hack.

You say too much troll to get a coherent message

@SW-User nothing 'trollslayer' says makes much sense. I don't really read his bs.

Since I am neither a republican nor a democrat, I just laugh at the dogma and the sad attempt to binary classify everone so you know who to pile on.

@SW-User again not really a fan of trump but you need to define me for your own personal justification.

All so very sensible ... it's good to see someone in the eye of the storm reaching the same conclusions to those of us who can look on dispassionately from afar

@SW-User DeSantis as just a right wing guy out trying to make headlines. Should he be the GOP nominee and/or president I would expect his platform to be a bit more mainstream. The main difference between DeSantis and Trump for me is that DeSantis's brain operates in the range of a rational adult, although a typical politician. Trump is truly mentally disordered and delusional - not at all capable of rational thought. DeSantis elected - I personally disagree with his platform but is workable. Trump elected - we've just put a very sick man in charge.
