I am sickened by this despicable act. Let me be as clear as I can be. Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms. Real change can only come about through nonviolent action, and anything else runs against our most deeply held American values. My hopes and prayers are that Representative Scalise, congressional staff and the Capitol Police Officers who were wounded make a quick and full recovery. I also want to thank the Capitol Police for their heroic actions to prevent further harm.
Contrast this with the reaction from Republicans after the attack on Paul Pelosi by a deranged Trump supporter - jokes, threats, and nutty conspiracy theories. The contrast could not be more obvious.

Well in all fairness Republicans would have to spend an awful lot of time starting with the maga bomber to the Parkland shooter to the synagogue to Dylann Roof to the Charlottesville Nazis to the hammer against Pelosi to the attempted kidnapping of Whitmer to the attempted hanging of pence. Etc etc I mean they spend their whole lives trying to make excuses
