Should the First amendment protect the right to assemble and worship violence and lawlessness? and

I get how this case was presented, but I think there's legitimate First Amendment rights at stake here.

If you can kiss poisonous snakes for religion, why shouldn't you be able to play Russian Roulette with like minded folks?

The Supreme Court upheld personal gun ownership under the Second Amendment in the Heller v. DC case, which forms the current interpretation. The judge in the NY case has ignored Heller, which clearly recognizes the need to restrict guns in certain locations. To wit:

....nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings.....

As a First Amendment issue, I don't believe that the right to assemble and worship violent and lawlessness can be prohibited, but it cannot legally be done while carrying in a church, if existing law prohibits it.
