Brace Yourselves, Especially People Retiring And Floridians/Arizonians

Congressional Republicans, eyeing a midterm election victory that could hand them control of the House and the Senate, have embraced plans to reduce federal spending on Social Security and Medicare, including cutting benefits for some retirees and raising the retirement age for both safety net programs.

Their ideas include raising the age for collecting Social Security benefits to 70 from 67 and requiring many older Americans to pay higher premiums for their health coverage.

But they're not willing to forgo welfare spending on oil producers.

They have opposed social security from it's very inception. They have always been against anything even resembling socialism.

Slavery to work has always been their ideal. After they achieve this comes company stores again for employees.

This will not pass unless there is a super majority. Fortunately that's not likely to happen.

Don't worry --work till you're 70 and then enjoy your retirement -- the US has your backs!

@Fukfacewillie IF you live to seventy. Older people have issues (blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol etc) that insurance hates to cover.

Universal health insurance means some rich fucker may have pay something or less money for the pentagon to "misplace."

Capitalism.

Is strange how much of the GQP base consists of demographics who can least afford a GQP utopia
