Europe bans gas-powered vehicle sales from 2035.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Europe-bans-gas-powered-vehicle-sales-from-2035-in-a-move-that-could-benefit-China.664932.0.html

After a 15-month debate that included a lot of negotiation with legacy German, French, or Italian automakers, legislation proposal for a ban on the sales of vehicles with internal combustion engine has been agreed on by European lawmakers.

The new European mandate sounds the death knell of the internal combustion engine
that has powered vehicles for almost 150 years there, and "sends a strong signal to industry and consumers: Europe is embracing the shift to zero-emission mobility," said the Green Deal initiative head Timmermans.

10 years ago if you had told me that it was within the realm of possibility that in a decade we would begin dreaming the end of the internal combustion engine I would have thought you were utterly mad (crazy.) and delusional.

...Today we've begun dreaming. The markets might just send the Internal combustion engine into the Dustbin of History.

It should be stated for the laymen too car companies don't operate on a short term basis, they plan a long time into the future, and no longer do Car manufactuers want to manufacture for one country alone, there's too much potential in emerging markets.

So their response will likely Slowly phase out production even for the united states.

The USA has been too reluctant to adopt new technology and EVS have been expensive, but the cost will come down over time.

The truth is if you want my prediction for how this is going to go down the Car manufacturers will stop making ICE cars, people will try to cling by buying used, etc, but slowly but certainly even the parts required to repair an ICE car will start to disapppear and then Final removal of ICE cars from the united states will simply be that they break down and are unable to be repaired because there are no parts left to fix them.

Yet, ANOTHER reason to avoid that ghetto continent like the plague.
(By the way, bat guano for brains) electric cars use more fossil fuels than any other entity. They have to be recharged and all that juice does NOT come from windmills.

Makes me love America that much more. Here, we are about the REPLACE a bunch of goose stepping Democrats in Congress because they (and their Unelected Fuhrer) raised to price of gasoline and created MISERY in our working class.

Here is the really funny irony:

Had governments just stuck to the ONE job they are supposed to be doing and not interfering in the free market, it is quite likely that electric car might have progressed technologically on its own and perhaps would have become less expensive and more fuel efficient. Maybe it could have replaced the internal combustion engine, just like the internal combustion engine replaced the high polluting HORSE in the early 20th Century.

But noooooo, the Nazi ghettos of Europe want to dictate to EVERYONE their lame ass Woke agenda.

Hilarious.

It's often cheaper to build and run solar than to buy gas for an existing plant.

Fossil Fuels won't even be competitive, where we're heading. shut out of the market merely for being too expensive.

But the most striking thing about this figure is that the DOE says it's competitive with "the cost of burning fuel in existing gas-fired generators." In other words, it can potentially be more economical to not operate an existing gas generator and use the money you'd spend on fuel to install a solar farm instead.

Especially with US corporations obligated to deliver profit to their shareholders, They'll switch off coal and natural gas so quickly you won't even blink before it's all over.

I don't konw what you fossil fuel addicts have been smoking but honestly they're stupid expensive and to think they'll be part of the energy market in the future is madness.

@BetweenKittensandRiots Well we know you solar nuts are smoking meth.

Solar is ineffective on cloudy days. Windmills do not work when there is no wind. BOTH rely on fossil fuels as backup, and that is not going to change, no matter how cheap the windmills or solar panels get.
@Reason10 We've already cracked solid state batteries, that is getting less relevant by the hour. Tick, tock. prototypes already.
