Paul Pelosi got his head cracked by someone swinging a hammer.

Terrible thing for the hammer wielding guy to do. A couple of questions though. Why was the guy in the house? Why did Pelosi call him a 'friend' when he phoned the cops? Why was the guy in his underwear when the cops got there? Why was the guy charged with elder abuse when elder abuse is meant to be used against those who have a relationship with the elder being abused. For example: If Jill Biden slapped Joe she could be charged with elder abuse. She is in a relationship where trust is involved. In Pelosi's case had the guy just been a stranger who snuck past all the security and bashed Paul in the head with a hammer there would be no elder abuse involved.

Where did you get this idea?

elder abuse is meant to be used against those who have a relationship with the elder being abused.

Section (b) seems like it might apply without a prior relationship.

I don't know about the friend stuff, though.

@MistyCee Straining at gnats and swallowing camels again?
@hippyjoe1955 Not so much straining as noticing them and checking them out.

I don't know what's up with this Depape guy and Pelosi, but the calling him a friend and being in his underwear seems more interesting then charging him with Elder Abuse.

@MistyCee Straining at gnats and swallowing camels is your specialty. A few weeks ago a senior was attacked on the street. Elder Abuse charges were not laid. Hmmm. Nice attempted deflection. I read that the attacker said that he is a gay prostitute and he and Pelosi had engaged in gay sex then began to argue over drugs.
@hippyjoe1955 See, that makes a better story and puts the elder abuse in better context.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee The fact that elder abuse was alleged in the first place was a clue. It is not used in random attacks.

@MistyCee Can you cite some cases where random attacks on seniors has resulted in elder abuse charges being laid? Be honest here.
@hippyjoe1955 Nope. The only ones I've had any in involvement with were hurricane related.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee Thanks for confirming what I already said. Elder abuse involves a relationship of trust between the elder and the perp.
@hippyjoe1955 I cited the statute. I don't think trust was an element
@hippyjoe1955

(b) (1) A person who knows or reasonably should know that a person is an elder or dependent adult and who, under circumstances or conditions likely to produce great bodily harm or death, willfully causes or permits any elder or dependent adult to suffer, or inflicts thereon unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering,
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee It is implied in the statute. The law covers everything else sufficiently. Assault is assault, manslaughter is manslaughter, murder is murder. Elder abuse is a different kettle of fish and it has to do with being in a position of trust with an elder. A nursing home attendant or a homecare provider friend or family - someone the elder would normally trust.
@hippyjoe1955 I do hear what your saying, but if you're suggesting a false flag kind of thing, I personally think that Pelosi referring to him as a friend is more interesting.

I'm not saying this sounds like a usual case of elder abuse, but depending on what happened between the two men, the elements of the crime seem to be there.

No doubt it seems like an odd charge to tack on though.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee What false flag. If Pelosi were not rich an famous and married to the speaker of the house no one would care or even have heard about it. There are t many many reports are coming out now that this was simply a gay on gay attack and that the two often got together for casual sex. Why the police are going to charge the perp with elder abuse I honestly don't know or understand. They seem to have their reason. BTW why was the perp taken to the hospital with injuries and who let the cops in the front door? Did the cops do a number on the perp or was the damage to him done prior to the cops arriving?
@hippyjoe1955 All good questions.

It's certainly possible that there's more than the obvious typical Trump worshipper trying to appease the voices in his head.

But the Elder Abuse thing still seems to me like a lesser charge that fits that the prosecutor threw in.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee The perp is an extreme leftist. He would NEVER vote for Trump. He also has to pay his bills and does that by being a hooker. Paul is reportedly well known for frequenting gay bars and late night parties.
@hippyjoe1955

The perp is an extreme leftist. He would NEVER vote for Trump.

Just like Nazis were communists?

Let's wait until the dust settles a bit, and we'll see. I think you're right that there's likely more to this than meets the eye, but this perp still seems to look like a Trumpist type to me.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee Please shut off CNN for a change. The man lived in a bus outside his former girlfriend's house. The bus is covered with leftist slogans. He is a supporter of the Green movement. Do a little research instead of repeating the nonsense Joe Biden spews. That doddering old goof can't find his way off a stage but he thinks he knows the political leanings of someone who attacked Paul Pelosi? How would Biden know that? Were he and the perp 'intimate' as well? Get serious. The man was a leftist. There are pictures of his bus with Black Lives Matter flag in the window and an American flag done in LBGTQ colors and marijuana leaves. The man is to the left of Stalin.
@hippyjoe1955 Last article I looked at saying he was a Qanon type was the Washington Examiner, not CNN.

Sure, he seems crazy, and nuts come in different colors, but saying this guy wasn't a Trumpist type seems pretty similar to saying 1/6 was mostly Antifa to me.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee You have lousy sources. Try harder. The guy is a gay hooker living outside his former girlfriend's house in a bus that is plastered with leftist slogans including "Ain't no sunshine 'till capitalism is gone". You keep making a bigger fool of yourself all the time.
@hippyjoe1955 I plead guilty to watching lousy sources:

hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee And that proves????? The facts are not on your side. BTW I never watch Fox opinionators.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee BTW did you know that the LA Times cited two websites attributed to the attacker to 'prove' he was Qanon? Funny thing is the websites didn't exist before the attack and they have since been taken down. Strange how that happens. Two 'Qanon websites with a shelf life of 24 hours. Yep that pretty much proves the expat Canadian drug addled hooker who voted Green was secretly Qanon. What color is the sky in the leftist world?
@hippyjoe1955 I don't have much of a side here, imo.

What I see is Dems saying this looks like a Trump foot soldier, and Republicans saying its "not fair" (McDaniel) to say he's one of ours just because this but attacked one of yours.

At the same time, personally, I like saner heads from both parties saying effectively, this is bad shit and we don't condone it.

Obviously, not every one's sane, and maybe it's not fair to judge the folks who jump to mics to weigh in, regardless of their calls or dog whistles to violence in the past.

Honestly, I don't like people hitting folks in the heads with hammers. That's my side, or corner, or whatever you want to call it.

Do you have a problem with me in my corner?
