Curious about Nixon

This was a tad before my time, but when Nixon resigned, the vast majority of the USA agreed with that decision and felt that Nixon had done something seriously wrong. Am I correct? Were there many folks in subsequent years who felt Nixon had been wronged? But we all knew Nixon was involved in the break-in.

I remember when Clinton was impeached my dad telling me he thought Clinton should resign. In my mind being untruthful about an extramarital affair is much different than orchestrating a political break-in. As I remember afterwards, most Democrats and some Republicans felt the affair was minor. The republicans who thought this was a major offense had issues with Clinton before that. But we all knew that Clinton had an affair and it looked bad upon him and the office of the president.

But I don't understand Trump. It's like his supporters are in complete denial. Sure there are some who think Trump is a scoundrel and still support him, but it seems like most completely deny that he did anything wrong. I simply don't see how anyone in a right mind would think Trump did nothing wrong or did nothing that made him look bad or disgraced the office of the presidency. With Nixon and Clinton, I think most of the country agreed they did something wrong. The difference was that whether one felt the action justified removal from office. Frankly, I am shocked that 75-80% of the USA can't agree that Trump is a slimy, crooked man. I wouldn't have so much of an issue if his supporters admitted to that and still supported him in spite of that. But they don't. Instead they live in a completely different reality. And it's not just 20% of the country - it's probably 35-40%. If we can't agree on basic reality, we are doomed.

The big problem with Clinton was not the affair, it was lying about it under oath, which is perjury! That was the crime, not the affair. Now, it is my understanding that Nixon did not orchestrate the break-in, but after he discovered his buddies had done it, he tried to cover for them. That was his crime, and at least he did the right thing and resigned.
@fanuc2013 Clinton really should have been removed for that. But after everything Trump got away with, it's pretty hard for me to criticize Clinton or the Democrats who covered for him.

@fanuc2013 And I think those on the left felt the lying about the affair was lying about an irrelevant personal issue rather than something of national importance. In hindsight, I wish he would have resigned.

Nixon obstructed justice.

You should look up the "Saturday night massacre."

And he only "did the right thing" after being backed into a corner. Unlike Trump, Nixon had enough respect for the Office of the PotUS to resign. Of course he went through VPs like some
people go through shoes, which is how we got the first President who had never been elected to even the Office of the VPotUS...

Clinton's prevarication about, "It depends upon what the meaning of the word, 'is' is" was the kind of bullshit liars say. He was caught with his...well, he was caught. As a lawyer, he was familiar with Black's law dictionary and principles of construction; as a Rhodes scholar, he could certainly read. He lied. It was appalling.

@BohemianBoo President Trump committed no crimes.

Earth to idiot, it is not a crime to make an idiot cry.

@Reason10 No.

Trump already has done everything required to be in violation of two of the sections of the US Code mentioned in the search warrant for Mar-a-Lago.

And

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAHAHAHAHHAAAHHHAAAHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Reason10 I know you don't read, but if you did, you'd have read the three sections of the US Code mentioned in the search warrant for Mar-a-Lago to see what they were about, and you'd also realize that DJT has already met two of those sections' requirements for being in violation of those sections.

And neither YOU nor ANYone else has EVER shown enoigh fraud in 2020 to change even a SINGLE Electoral College vote. That is YOUR burden, and

@SomeMichGuy I read more than ANY single digit IQ liberal here. You ALL are children.
@Reason10
@Reason10 Then you don't read good sources or you don't understand what you read, because you reject proven facts left and right.

And you don't understand IQ either...
