Republican-controlled states have higher murder rates than Democratic ones

https://news.yahoo.com/republican-controlled-states-have-higher-murder-rates-than-democratic-ones-study-212137750.html

by Ben Adler, Senior Editor, April 4, 2022

"Republican politicians routinely claim that cities run by Democrats have been experiencing crime waves caused by failed governance, but a new study shows murder rates are actually higher in states and cities controlled by Republicans.

"Those findings are consistent with a pattern that has existed for decades, in which the South has had higher rates of violent crime than the nation as a whole.

“I thought that was a very good study,” Richard Rosenfeld, a professor of criminology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and former president of the American Society of Criminology, told Yahoo News about the Third Way report. “In Republican states, states with Republican governors, crime rates tend to be higher. I’m not certain that’s related to the fact that the governor is a Republican, but it’s a fact nonetheless.”

Liberals like to throw numbers and statistics out there...
But truth is, there are a lot of very bad people out there, no matter where you live, any and all states.
I'll Always have peace of mind should something happen that requires swift and decisive action.
Never a victim!

@Montanaman Rethink your statement. It isn't just liberals who throw "numbers and statistics". Anyone capable of critical thinking should use numbers and statistics along with other informational sources to make a well informed decision. One thing conservatives tend to fail to understand is that leftists also carry...

@TrashCat That's a good thing, but why continue to make statements about gun violence and more gun control laws.
Its a very violent world we live in now,
I'd be more worried about Russia or North Korea sending nukes than who's carrying heat. 🤷‍♀️ just saying.

@Montanaman You are correct. Us liberals DO like to throw numbers and statistics out there. it's called evidence, documented proof instead of unsupported accusations.
Montanaman · M
@badminton but in reality, what can those do for you? For us as a country? The debate lingers on...

@Montanaman I am not opposed to gun ownership. I have been a gun owner for many years. I am also in favor of sensible gun control laws to screen out dangerous criminals and mental cases from obtaining guns and ammo. And I strongly support a ban on semi-auto, military-grade weapons and high-capacity magazines. No civilian should have access to these weapons of war, at least not without a special permit. My home guns were .38 revolvers and a pump-action shotgun. No one needs anything more for home or personal protection.
Montanaman · M
@badminton but when you propose a ban on "weapons of war," and high capacity magazines, where do you draw the line?
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@Montanaman Currently, the U.S. bans full-auto firearms, rocket launchers, stinger anti-aircraft missiles, artillery, and other military weapons. We have age restrictions (18+) to purchase guns and ammo. No sane person would argue with those common-sense regulations. We can certainly add AR-15, and AK assault rifles and large capacity mags to that list.

@badminton

We can certainly add AR, 15- AK assault rifles and large capacity mags to that list.

Not!

@Montanaman Thousands of people are killed every year in the U.S., by guns - murders, accidents and suicides. Mass shootings at schools (most often with AR-15 type weapons) have become so common it's difficult to keep track of them all. That's why we need sane gun control laws.
Montanaman · M
@badminton We need more enforcement of current laws to keep "Insane " people from access to any guns.
Montanaman · M
@badminton

most commonly with AR-15 type weapons). have become so common it's difficult to keep track of them all.

The rumor of banning Ar's and AK's makes them just "fly off" the shelf. Let alone the prices go up.

How could the Uvalde shooter afford 3-5K for his weapons and ammunition working at McDonald's? Someone helped him out no doubt?
TrashCat · M
@Montanaman Why??? Because we need more gun control. That's why. It's way to easy for irresponsible and dangerous people to get their hands on a firearm. For example, why are we letting kids getting guns when they can't buy smokes and alcohol until they are 21? We allow people who have no idea on how to handle a gun safely to buy a firearm, yet we require people to prove they can drive a car to obtain a drivers license. And lastly, people must be 18 AND show an ID to vote. WTF, Bro...common sense
Montanaman · M
@TrashCat omg. These laws are already in effect in all 50 states.
TrashCat · M
@Montanaman No they are not. For example. In NH, you can buy a legally load a handgun, load it in the store, drop it in your pocket, and walk out. Also, why does the average home owner need an auto or semi-auto high capacity firearm for home protection? I know, the small-penis crowd loves those big guns because they are cool and all, but by the time you wake up and get out of bed, you could have your throat slit and you sure af aren't going to legally be hunting with them.
Montanaman · M
@TrashCat Your President just past 21 age requirements to purchase rifles. Handguns already 21. It's up to Your State to enforce or adopt those laws. It "Our choice" to decide what we should use for home protection. Its called "Freedom!"
I actually don't know of many who use simi auto handguns for hunting. But some do.
TrashCat · M
@Montanaman Your president, too. Republican led states let anyone have any form of gun except for felons. LOL
People who use Semi's to hunt are trash

@TrashCat 😎
TrashCat · M
@Montanaman Ooo the one with the wood grained grip is giving me a boner. That would go fabulously with my Nordstrom camo pants and a black tank top.
TrashCat · M
@Montanaman Tell me a little about that beautiful handgun, please.
Montanaman · M
@TrashCat Its a Springfield Armory Ronin 10mm. It took me 600 rounds to get it to shoot without jamming. Now its sweet. And accurate af. ❤️ $750-850.
TrashCat · M
@Montanaman I couldn't tell if it was a Colt or a Sprringfield and from it's appearance, it looked like a 9mm.
My Glock .45 is accurate af too, but it sure is a kicker when you have a shit rotary cuff. lol Thanks for the info
Montanaman · M
@TrashCat Anytime 😊
