@Burnley123 Yep. He rose to prominence in the party after Stockwell Day was turned into a national laughing stock by a comedy group called Royal Canadian Airfarce who have similar influence to Monty Python in the UK culturally although their stuff was almost exclusively political and cultural.
Stockwell Day had run on a platform of governing by referendum that with anything over I think it was half a million signatures it would be put forth as a bill.
So Airfarce had a mock referendum where they got something like 2 million Canadians to vote to make Stockwell Day change his name legally to Doris Day.
It turned him into a national joke.

@Burnley123 I mentioned Kim Campbell also because like Liz Truss the previous conservative government had already made a disaster of the country and her incompetence was just the final nail in the coffin.
Kim Campbell was also a very very odd conservative. Studied at the London School of Economics but was doing her Doctorate on Soviet Government and traveled to the USSR. She claimed to be fluent in Russian but apparently not fluent enough to welcome Boris Yeltsin in his own language in 93.

@supersnipe Yes, I refuse to call Hunt a moderate Tory, especially after what he did to the NHS but he is seen as a credible figure and nowhere as extreme as Kwarteng.

Agreed a sad situation . Liz Truss has lost the trust of the nation and her own party what a screw up . Looks like we are heading for an election and a landslide labour government . So much in fighting from the tories that they can no longer govern competently .
It's not enough while she's still in office. BoJo the clown had three more teeth than she does
