@Motherwifenurseandnanny

Yes, we WOULD have. You're forgetting about the invasion of the Philippines.

Well, it was still a set up.
The Us needed a "live experiment" to test Nuclear Weapons in real time and a real environment.
Basically, the US allowed the bombing of Pearl Harbor, with the intention of testing the Nuclear Weapons on humans and the environment. The only way to achieve this was in a war time situation. It was the only way to justify using humans in an experiment of that magnitude.

@beckyromero the united states was culturally a cess pool of anti war fervor right up until the invasion of pearl harbor. FDR needed backing by the american people to a huge extent because he had initially promised not to get involved in a foreign war in Europe while meanwhile quitely sending as many weapons as he possibly could to the British to hopefully keep hitler occuppied for long enough for shit to melt down here at home. the momennt I started talking about the Enigma decrypion I was immediately hit with people talking about how they suspect t hat FDR knew pearl harbor was going to happen and did nothing and all I could say to them was " I don't care."

They were shocked at my attitude but it was like I've studied history well enough to know the american people had cornered FDR into making a promsie not to get pulled into what was seen as a european war while Hitler and his cronies all carved up europe amongst themselves the american people were stuck with a very "ehhh if we ignore it it will go away" sort of attitude, you talk about the phillipines but I'm really not sure anything would have shocked the public quite as effectively as just letting it happen.

if I had the decrypts and I knew pearl harbor was coming and was FDR I would have done nothing to prevent it myself. Why? Because once the news reported on what happened the reluctance we had shown to get pulled in a european war would be dust in the wind, that sacrifice would be necessary.

Oh, and don't get me wrong about Japan, they could have avoided everything if they had not bombed Pearl Harbor.
