@Shaveit It is when it is just a fig leaf for trying to disenfranchise as many people as possible. Nobody seriously believes this has ever been about voter fraud.

And FYI using the law as an excuse is the most common method of throwing people off the voter rolls for sham elections in human history. In fact one of the most common ways in the US you can illimitate entire sections of the electorate is make sure they end up in prison with a felony and then you can take away their right to vote (which seems a clear violation of the 14th amendment as well as cruel and unusual punishment).

@llloydfred Currently citizens over 18 can vote. Crucially we don't take away the rights of citizens because they have a criminal record. In fact people vote in prison. It works this way in most of the developed world. Personally I think the age should be lowered to 15 because that is when you can enter the workforce legally. If you are contributing to the economy, are directly impacted by government policy you should have a say or you don't have a democracy. That should also apply to landed immigrants because they live here and are directly impacts and contribute to the economy.

As for gun restrictions that has almost always been a political talking point. The hard rules have not changed in decades. The rest are minor restrictions that the PM can advise the RCMP on which in many cases boil down to cosmetics.

Interestingly here in Canada there are weapons that are perfectly legal with a non restricted license that are outright banned in most states like short barrel shotguns, all Norinco guns, some forms of artillery (black powder), and .50 BMG anti material rifles that I think are only legal in 2 US states.

@llloydfred The only thing legalized was weed which is less harmful than booze. And that basically brought us in line with the rest of the developed world and science based policy.

Sorry you guys are still stuck in the 1920s Prohibition era. Even we were smarter about alcohol prohibition and only kept that nonsense up for 2 years.
