When I was in grad school, my advisor suggested that I take out max student loans and buy a new truck. I didn't, but I know of a few students who did. So in that sense, 10k in forgiveness does pay for some people's boat or car.

@MarineBob yeah these days! That's why I think they are only forgiving 10k - it really is a drop in the bucket to the economy at large, but a big deal to persuade voters.

the loans that are to tuition are identified as such when originated you cannot just claim you boat loan is a school loan
