What is inflation and why has it happened?

It occurs worldwide! no matter where you live, the food prices increased! This is insane! If people stop using processesed food as ingredients but instead use chickens eggs, meat and veg grown from their own 'unlicensed' farms would the meal price remains or priced even cheaper? Still depends on the regulations, does your government mandates that every farm must be licenced so they can collect something called 'tithes' from the farmers? I don't know every country is different.

Supply and demand. Loads of examples. If you increase the money supply, the money in circulation is worth less. If you intentionally reduce commodities from the global supply, there will be an effect. Especially if demand is on the increase when you do it.

Both of these things are happening. Inflation is the result. Enjoy.
Most people don't want to and can't be farmers. Half the population doesn't even own any arable land.
Plus organic crops are harder to grow, harder to store and have a much shorter shelf life.
If everyone grew things organically half the world would starve to death.
Also we are coming out of a global pandemic, disrupted supply chains, economic crisis, a war from a global superpower, climate change, overpopulation and failing economic systems. So yeah things aren't going to be cheap on a finite bit of earth.

The other thing that screwed us was giving the british commonwealth countries back to local people to govern and africa went from the bread basket of the world to broke and bankrupt and its people starving .All because political correctness and do gooders said it was the right thing to do and now the locals are all fleeing to the uk .

Inflation has happened because of our reliance on gas and oil . If we werent so reliant on gas and oil then the war in ukraine wouldnt have had such a dire effect on the world .

@Rhode57 Who would you initiated the war in Ukraine
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
@ididntknow I dont think the EU helped offering membership to Ukraine , however I still dont think it gave Putin the right to invade them just because he felt threatened and I think the world sitting back and allowing it hasnt helped as its given china ideas about invading Taiwan and hoping the world would allow that to happen as well . I think the minute Putin set foot in Ukraine the whole of Europe , the UK and the USA should have come down on him like a ton of bricks . It would have been all over more or less over night and Russia would have a new leader . All its done has ramped things up because all his neighbours are clambering to join the EU because their scared they could be next .

@Rhode57 oh, ok
As long as we have inflation, the national debt isn’t a problem as we are paying it back with cheaper future dollars.

Regarding your farm idea, that’s impossible with the current population. You’d need a massive reduction to free up the land that would be needed. So you would have liked Pol Pot.

The short answer is that central banks around the world have printed money, since 2008, in the misguided belief that their job was to promote growth rather than to control inflation. The mystery is why it has taken so long for inflation to happen.

It’s interesting that the cost to produce seems to be almost the same but the market price has risen
@meJess Costs of seed, feed, fuel, fertilizer, weed control chemicals, etc .. are all up. Cost to produce is definitely up as well.
