Give a man a fish...

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Steal a fish from one guy and give it to another--and keep doing that on a daily basis--and you'll make the first guy pissed off, but you'll make the second guy lazy and dependent on you. Then you can tell the second guy that the first guy is greedy for wanting to keep the fish he caught. Then the second guy will cheer for you to steal more fish. Then you can prohibit anyone from fishing without getting permission from you. Then you can expand the racket, stealing fish from more people and buying the loyalty of others. Then you can get the recipients of the stolen fish to act as your hired thugs. Then you can ... well, you know the rest.”

― Larken Rose

New IRS funding will unleash an 87,000-strong "army" of new IRS agents on American households. This army will be very much needed by the government as the U.S. debt surges well past the current $30 trillion. Alternatvely, the debt could just be inflated away. How much inflation would it take to bring down $30 trillion to a reasonable amount?

What type of firearm would be best for an IRS agent anyway? So many questions...

Freedom was great while it lasted. Don't ya think?
Elessar · 26-30, M
Tax money and fish don't really compare well. The U.S. could start fixing its own debt crisis by going after individuals and corporations whose worth amounts to 10 digits or more, but we all know it won't happen.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@irishmolly72 Well, you can lower the spending and let China take over if you prefer.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Elessar Smaller government will beat Belt and Road any day of the week.... and with no genocides. Bonus! 😊
Elessar · 26-30, M
@irishmolly72 No, it won't.

"Smaller government" is just a cute way of saying "let's let the rich/powerful do the f*ck they want, at the expense of everyone else". It's the far-south Italy model, you want that for your country? When did Sicily become a world power without anyone noticing?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
Biden reportedly set to announce student loan forgiveness plan that would cost taxpayers billions. $300,000,000,000 to bail out college graduates. Let's see how that plays with all the skilled tradesmen in this country who had to work their way up.

Do college grads know how to fish??? I guess it doesn't matter. 😋

Anyone up for a bailout of the rich?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy No it isn't. We subsidized the hell out of everything. Every dollar of subsidy was another puppet string for woke to use.
Slade · 56-60, M
@irishmolly72 I assume you are addressing someone I had blocked since I don't see any preamble😋
@irishmolly72 No, DEregulation helped make the problems. The predatory lending in home loans was mirrored in educational loans through "schools" which were loan origination factories when the government got out of loans.

Every dollar of subsidy was another puppet string for woke to use.

WTH? LMAO
You really have no idea what you are talking about.

Are you afraid of having people feed their minds? Do you feel lesser for not having higher education?

You do realize that people *with* degrees ALSO "work their way up", right? This happens with lawyers, engineers, architects, doctors, businesspersons, etc., not just unskilled or semiskilled or skilled trades.

You don't think that working with one's mind is "real work", right?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
America already tried inflating the debt away. But it didnt work because all the countries America owe $US to matched Americas "quantitative easing" to keep in step. So the numbers stay the same in relation to each other. Only the prices of real goods have gone up. Its only the rise of Chinese production that has been keeping the magic in the game. If not for that Cars, TVs computer and clothing would all cost a lot more than they do. But that ship has pretty much sailed now..😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@irishmolly72 Sorry. Both your numbers and logic are way off. I wont go into the fictional nature of money as a store of value. Or the advantage that the US will soon lose of being the reserve trade currency. But your theory wont work..😷

The IRS is not hiring 87,000 new agents. Stop posting lies and political diatribe from the Republicans. Do any fact check on this and you will see it's pure bunk. In fact, the funding is for a period of ten years and the Treasury Department has ordered no increased audits on those making less than $400,000 a year.
Ontheroad · M
@Slade Look, I told you I'm doing the work for you. Even if I did, you'd argue it until you exploded. Read the information available and try using some critical thinking. Will they hire a few agents? Of course they will, but the assertion that the IRS is unlawfully after everyone, is hiring this massive army of new agents, etc., is ludicrous. Like I said, read and learn. I'm done discussing it with you.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Ontheroad I never said they were after everyone - just the easy targets. You come to their knee jerk defense despite all the IRS bullying during the Obama and Clinton years

You need a real diety to worship - government is a horrible choice as a religion. Especially under this bunch. Talk about worshiping false idols

Who's spreading this BS? The likes of DeSantis, McCarthy and Taylor-Greene. Republicans created this little corner of the swamp. Now it's being fixed. Of course the Republicans won't admist the sh*tstorm is on them.

U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) hires over the next decade will mainly replace retiring Baby Boomers.

The Republican attack ads and social media messages follow a decade of Republican-passed budget cuts in Congress for the IRS, leaving it with 16,000 fewer employees in 2021 than it had in 2010. The agency is responsible for collecting the bulk of nearly $5 trillion in annual U.S. revenues.

A Reuters Fact Check found that only 2,100 special agents in the IRS Criminal Investigation branch are authorized to carry firearms. 50,000 employees to retire over the next five years alone, said Natasha Sarin, Treasury counselor for tax policy and administration.

Claims that all 87,000 would be auditors, criminal enforcement agents or armed are "deeply dangerous nonsense - and false. After making up for attrition, the IRS hiring plan includes tens of thousands of new customer service personnel and information technology specialists. These hires will develop technology tools to identify more high-end audit targets and provide a customer experience on par with online banking, she said.

"We’ll have an IRS that is able to serve Americans the way that they deserve. That means an IRS, for example, that is able to answer the phones," Sarin added.

This sucks. But if the Reps have any balls (yeah right) they will defund that shit when they take back the House
Slade · 56-60, M
@irishmolly72 I was only speaking economically. I'd take him 1,000 times before the current anti American bunch though.

Cards? Look who got the suicide king! LOL!
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Slade Yes. It's fun to watch Bill's guy Larry Summers skewering this administration. Sometimes they eat their own.
Slade · 56-60, M
@irishmolly72 indeed. We really have a disturbing bunch driving us off a cliff
Eternity · 26-30, M
It depends entirely on who those agents are looking for.

If they are looking to tax the piss out of working class individuals then fuck that and fuck them.

If they are looking to get a fair share out of people like bezos, and musk, and gates, then they are doing gods work as far as I'm concerned. No one entity nor individual should have enough money to change the political and/or economic landscape of an entire nation.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Eternity Thank you for your thoughtful answer. Soaking the rich would definitely fix any rounding errors.

"New IRS funding will unleash an 87,000-strong "army" of new IRS agents on American households."

Over ten year period! Boy, that's some serious unleashing🤣🤣🤣
room101 · 51-55, M
@irishmolly72 Well good for you. Aren't you the lucky one.

A couple of little facts for you.

1. America has some of the toughest immigration laws in the developed world.
2. If current American immigration laws were in place when your ancestors tried to get into the country (assuming that you're a descendant of immigrants and not a 1st gen immigrant), there is every likelihood that you would not have been born. Why? Because your ancestors would have been left to die in Ireland.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@room101 I have plenty of friends who went through a legal process to immigrate and are doing just fine as bona fide US citizens today. So I don't quite follow what you're saying.
room101 · 51-55, M
@irishmolly72 Not surprised that you "don't quite follow"🤣🤣🤣
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Start with chasing after the corporations that avoid paying taxes in the USA under the current tax laws. If the IRS have to arm the tax agents you have a serious problem, the main problem appears to be congress and the lazy people who have been a leach and sitting back doing nothing.

The IRS website's job description for special agents included the requirement that they be able to carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force if necessary. However, as of Friday morning, the listing had been edited to omit those two requirements.

Sorry, I didn't realize the IRS took that down. Must've attracted an interesting pool of applicants though. 😋

A typical IRS "special" agent's checklist:

Green eyeshades. Check
Pocket protector. Check
Glock. Check

Gee, I wonder why the Second Amendment is still so popular???

There is a criminal division of ~2100 out of 80k people which carries a firearm.

Those are not the audit agents.
I don't understand how professional people who are educated in finances, economics, etc, can disagree about how to spend money. It's good for the country, no it isn't, 🤷‍♂️ WTH?
@irishmolly72 👍 ☺️
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@softspokenman Just to be clear, I wasn't referring to you
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@softspokenman I just mean to say that when parties disagree it's often because one or both parties have an agenda that they will defend often with quite tortured logic. For instance, a Supreme Court nominee claiming that it's not possible to define a "woman".

John Kenneth Galbraith the famous economist once said:

Faced with the choice between changing one's mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof.
You need to read up on what the bill says and about IRS agents...bookkeepers/accountants, with calculators & spreadsheets...not guns.

You have to stop listening to the shrill voices on the far Right, because that's just crazy.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy If the voices weren't shrill the Marxists would win. Celebrate shrill!
@irishmolly72 You need to read up on Marxism.

The fear-mongering is based on misrepresentation of the *facts*...not opinions, *facts*.

Just read the bill summary.

@trackboy Cljnton was decent, but the balanced budget was a myth. They just added the SS money to the treasury and Viola, we have lors more money. Creative accounting out if Hollywood

Plus he was kept on a very short leash by the Rep House who controls all spending

confiscation of wealth from those who earn it and redistributing it to those who don't
Your statement doesn't hold up based on the use of your word 'wealth'. Many people who aren't wealthy are taxed and unlikely the wealthy do not have the option to avoid paying. The people who are supported by taxes are supported because they are not wealthy.
Please heed.
Appropriate here than in your statement.

This has nothing to do with taxes. Part of their job description is that these new agents have to be willing to use deadly force.

Dims: Defund the police
Dims: We need 87,000 more feds willing to kill citizens.

Read the tea leaves.

It's happening, and our brain-dead puppet is onboard.
@JimBeam You got this wrong.

Instead of tea leaves, read some actual sources.
