"Passports"? Really? What Will Trump Say Was "Stolen" Next? Melania's Lingerie?

OMG, does anyone not understand that a US citizen may not hold more than one passport at a time, let alone three?

Trump is a dual citizen of no nation. He is a flight risk. The first offense of passport fraud under 18 U.S.C. § 1542, such as lying on a passport application, you can be fined $250,000 and sentenced to up to ten years in prison.

On that alone, Trump could be convicted and sent to prison.

@Graylight I guess if you go to Israel you can have a second one so it doesn't show up in other countries.

@Tastyfrzz He's neither Jewish nor Israeli and no, US citizens may not have such a passport.

He's allowed a diplomatic passport, but he's done absolutely zero diplomatic work ever a single day in his life, so that should be revoked just on principle.

@Graylight Usual nonsense.
@Graylight The reporting was that he had two current passports, and an expired passport.

His expired one could be personal or diplomatic (black). One current one is likely his current personal passport (blue), and he might have a late-issued government one (red) which he wrangled...who knows?

I have 3 or so expired/cancelled US passports, myself. When you renew your passport, you can ask for the return of the last one.

That is not a legal problem.

And have you read 18 U.S.C. § 1542? It doesn't say anything about the number of passports.

?

@SomeMichGuy From the State Department: "no person shall bear or be in possession of more than one valid or potentially valid passport of the same type (regular, official, diplomatic, no-fee regular, or passport card) at any time, unless authorized by the Department of State."

While it seems he may have a Diplomatic passport (a paradox if there ever was one), a citizen may not hold more than one valid country passport unless deemed a dual-citizen.

Manafort also has 3 passports. I'm guessing he's not the only one. Sometimes it's not the incident, it's the pattern.
@Graylight And we don't have details of which they were, and the expired one doesn't count.

So he had two current passports. And the text you presented specifically notes that one CAN have a passport/passport-like document of EACH kind (I count *5* kinds), and you are ignoring the crucial last phrase:

unless authorized by the Department of State.

And the portion of the US Code you previously quoted says nothing about the number of passports.

Calm down, he's going down on multiple issues, in both Federal and State court. Going off half-cocked makes you sound like a Trump supporter.

@Graylight Try getting back in touch with reality.

@Strictgram Try being a human nature would be proud of.
