DYK ? : between 15 million and 20 million American adults believe that violence would be justified to return Mr. Trump to office.

What would they do if tomorrow he died from a heart attack?

@softspokenman They'd probably find another darling soon. 😕
@helenS Nixon is not available he died in 1994.
helenS · 36-40, F
@softspokenman Sorry I don't know who that is at the moment.
@helenS Former president Richard M. Nixion 1969 -1974.

@softspokenman Thank you 🌷
Aah – he was the guy who had to resign because of Watergate?

@softspokenman they'd probably go for Death Desantis.

@softspokenman 'What would they do if tomorrow he died from a heart attack?'

Blame it on the Deep State.
@RodionRomanovitch The best thing that he can do for himself, them, and for the country, would be to inform the DOJ that he will cooperate with them fully. It would save millions of lives and it would end a battle that he can't win.

@softspokenman

"What would they do if tomorrow he died from a heart attack?"

a) put him in a glass coffin and prostrate themselves around it praying for his resurrection. When it doesn't come to pass, riots and civil war ensues.

b) insist that such a fine figure of a man could not possibly have succumbed to a heart attack and that he must have been "Epsteined". Riots and civil war ensues.

Take your pick🤷‍♂️
@room101 And we ALL lose.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
@softspokenman they have DeSantis and will switch right over to him immediately.
@BackyardShaman Then: "The tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson.
@softspokenman Say he was assassinated.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@softspokenman Print "Trump Lives" T-shirts and sell them and have Rudy endorse them.

They would wear them everywhere and reminisce about "the good ole days" with fondness and Blame Democrats for assassinating Trump.

Perhaps they will embroider pillows with Maga and Trump catchphrases.
room101 · 51-55, M
@softspokenman I don't think that we would all lose. I think that he would, very quickly, become a footnote (covered in dogshit) in the history of America. I think that all of your allies will breathe a huge sigh of relief.
helenS · 36-40, F
@room101 ... he would, very quickly, become a footnote (covered in dogshit) in the decline of America (decline from a republic to a country led by strongmen who are adored by the crowd) 😕
room101 · 51-55, M
@helenS I've got faith in the many Americans that never fell into this nightmare. I've got faith in the Americans who are finally waking up!
helenS · 36-40, F
@room101 So do I – and if America were "just another country" I wouldn't be too concerned, being a European myself. But things which happen in America matter to more than America alone.
The fall of the Roman Republic should be seen as a cautionary example. At some point in time the Roman Senate, after many centuries, lost its authority over the people, and warlords like Pompey or Caesar took over.
room101 · 51-55, M
@helenS I suppose the difference between your view and mine is that, I've never seen America as an empire and have always seen it as just another country. Sure, they have a lot of influence, a lot of which is not particularly positive.

So maybe the reduction in that influence (that we've seen since trump campaigned for office) is a good thing🤷‍♂️
helenS · 36-40, F
@room101 The Roman Republic was not an empire. It's official name was SPQR (senatus populusque romanus = the Senate and the people of Rome).
Rome became an empire after the fall of the republic; it was renamed Roman Empire by the warlords who had taken over.
I don't see America as an empire either.
room101 · 51-55, M
@helenS With all due respect, regardless of its "official" name, Rome was an empire from the moment it began invading, occupying and ruling foreign lands. Isn't that the definition of an empire?
helenS · 36-40, F
@room101 Yes of course, that's the definition of an empire. Wars of aggression, invading foreign countries etc. were illegal in the Roman Republic.
