Pregnant woman, or pregnant person?

In recent years, it has become normalized to refer to pregnant women as pregnant people. When I was pregnant with my firstborn, I noticed this in various forms of medical literature. Much of it was in articles from legitimate medical sources. This isn't just a trend on social media, it has actually become commonplace to use this term and we as individuals are being encouraged to use it too. The words and expressions that people use are always influenced by the culture around them, and the world that they live in. In the case of the West, that world is now one where authorities, including the most important in delivering information relevant to pregnant women, are deviating from actual medical realities for the sake of ideology. They seek to further an agenda that proclaims to advocate rights and equality when in essence it has nothing to do with that. Women who do not identify as women are in an extreme minority, and they should be treated as such.

How must one in a minority be treated?

No one is stopping any woman from calling herself a woman. Pregnant or not.
How does it affect you if you are referred to as a person on some medical form.
Are you not a person?

If you are a man who identifies as a woman, you cannot get pregnant. If you are a woman who identifies as a man, you should not want to get pregnant. Pregnant women who identify as men should be referred to as what they are, which is a pregnant woman. If they were not a woman, they would not be able to conceive and would therefore not be able to get pregnant. A sensible compromise would be identifying them as a man once they transition and are no longer able to have babies. While you *are* able to have babies and certainly *if* you are having them, you are a woman.

The term "person" is only relevant when it is used in reference to something that applies to both sexes. Only women are able to get pregnant, so we use terms like "pregnant woman". This term is a true and logical reflection of what being pregnant requires.

@SW-User and referring to a person, as a person has zero affect on your life. Zero.

@Carla How do you know it has no affect on my life?
Carla · 61-69, F
@SW-User because it doesn't.
Unless your sensibilities are so fragile that a word on a form affects your day to day life. And if that's the case, you need to hide in a corner so that you are safe.

You can't know that it doesn't.

I could use precisely the same argument for those who get upset when the term "pregnant woman" is used. Now, why would they be getting upset at the word "woman" when it is used in reference to pregnancy? Let's keep in mind that pregnancy is an exclusively female state, enabled by the female menstrual cycle and female hormones.

@Carla lol

If there was no one complaining about it, they wouldn't be using "pregnant person".

@Carla You are wrong, there are many leftists who don't agree with this as well and don't want to be clumped up together with far-left. Nothing is black and white and if you agree with an idea that is primarily presented by one political party it doesn't mean you are the sympathizer of the said party and agree with all of their ideas, like so many try to present it that way on here.
On both sides it's the problem of sensibilities and one or another has to step back so the other could be placated. Where's the problem if they say pregnant women and pregnant trans men? Do they find the word trans men insulting? It would be inclusive.
Carla · 61-69, F
@CrazyMusicLover "person" is as inclusive as it gets.
SW-User
@Carla Not when you consider that only a woman can get pregnant.

@SW-User a word on a form. That's all.
