This salient fact about the whole gun debate is the one that drives me the most insane.

the argument the gun advocates are so fond of is that guns don't kill people, people kill people but the most salient point that could be made in response to that crock of bullshit is so easy.

"If someone wanted you dead they'd find a way" Bullshit they would. Guns are the problem, they fundamentally alter the odds of success. They say Guns don't kill people, people kill people [/b][/i] but people who
o use other weapons are far less likely to actually succeed at killing anyone.[/b][/i]

Their aim here is obvious they want me to view the gun the same way I do a computer in essence as just a 'tool' and if it's a tool it's a tool for killing people but -that tool- in particular has some unique properties that mean a bad guy is far more likely to actually achieve is malicious intentions with a gun than he is with literally any other weapon.

So when people say "they'd find a way" those people need to go back to school and study what happened to armies in history that still relied on Castle walls, bows, arrows and swords after Gun powder and cannons and then guns became a reality.

Someone could TRY stabbing people, but those people would be much more likely to actually survive the attack

Especially because for the most part people aren't running around with swords big enough to hack whole limbs off these days.

A mass shooter in las vegas was able to kill 50+ people and injure over 500 in the space of all of ten minutes

A mass stabber? 27 dead. And incidents of mass stabbings far less common.

a lot of this is down to criminals knowing this too, they're less likely to try to stabbing a bunch of people because they know its odds of success are low.

this is a weapon like other weapons, but unlike other weapons it has a far greater chance of actually killing those afflicted by gun violence.

The Las Vegas shooter committed his carnage in approximately ten minutes, not an hour. Let that sink in for a minute.

I still have my guns. You all can't have them.
Period.

@Montanaman As a responsible gun owner, you are not the problem. But many people are NOT responsible, and unfortunately we need additional gun controls to address those people that may adversely affect you.
@Montanaman Bruh as long as you don't plan to use them to go on some mass shooting spree againsst people I don't really mind you having "muh guns"

I just want to get them out of the hands of would be mass murderers and think it should be more difficult to get them than it is presently because serious psychological assesments should be done of people before we just start handing over weapons.

contrary to what the republicans will lie to you about most of us democratic voters are not actually in sympathy to gun grabbing, we just think they're too easy to obtain when you have no business owning one.
