Again, I’m proud of our governor…

Gavin Newsom, who just signed Bill 1327 into law.
It’s modeled after Texas’ law allowing strangers to sue anyone known to provide an abortion or assist someone in getting an abortion (even with no personal connection to the girl or woman involved).
Under the California law, a person would also be able to sue a licensed firearms dealer who “sells, supplies, delivers, or gives possession or control of a firearm” to anyone under 21 years old. It allows citizens to sue for a minimum of $10,000 on each weapon involved, as well as attorney fees.

Newsom last week signed a bill into law that makes it easier for gun violence victims or local governments to sue gun makers if the firearms were used in crimes. And the governor on Thursday signed a slew of gun legislation that would require more regulations on gun sales and dealers within the state, as well as increased information sharing between schools and law enforcement agencies.

@bijouxbroussard Woops! I think I misunderstood the phrase "modelled after". At first I thought Newsom had replicated the Texas legislation in CA, hence making it harder to get an abortion.
When I re-read the posts, I realised he'd taken the thinking and applies it to a different issue.
Sorry, Bijous, mea culpa. I'll edit my former post.
@hartfire Oh, I see. 😊
@hartfire It's vertually the same law with a few words changed. He knows the Gun Lobbies will have to appeal.
