You, know, there should be a contract that all incoming politicians must agree to and sign, no different that a non-compete or confidentiality deal.
But this contract should lay out both expectations and no-go's with clarity and a very defined, always-enforced penalty. On the prohibited list would be things like obfuscating American politics despite knowing better, being insufficiently educated for the duties of the office, failure to represent the will of their constituents, slander and libel, behavior unbecoming a US governmental representative. And so much more. And once breached and warned, the politician is escorted with their belongings to the door and summarily terminated.
There has to be a fail-safe and for some reason, the voters are not it right now.
