I wish I had some support here.

I want to have the US government create a new system. It will only cost us $5 billion per year. On a yearly basis, it will kill 45 thousand Americans, injure 5.5 million, become the leading cause of death among children, kill animals, and increase global pollution by 20%. Why do I want all of this? So that the government can force us to buy cars, pay for gas, pay for insurance, a driver license, registration, car and road maintenance, and violations, all so that we can get places SLOWER and sit in traffic for 73 hours per year.

Also, the violations I mentioned will be due to laws that are set for literally no reason. You'll have to frequently stop because "it's safer to stay still than to move". You'll have to drive at the same speed as most people, regardless of conditions, just because. If someone in front of you is going ridiculously slow, you're not allowed to pass them, unlike if you were bicycling or walking. You just stay there.

And I repeat: all of this will make you get places SLOWER. Not faster.

We pay so much in so many ways for this and for that we get an increase in death and a decrease in lifetime. It's one of the worst things going on right now and yet I'm supposed to shut up about it while other people complain about being misgendered and THEY get support. 🤷‍♂️

The worst part is that there is a solution that makes all modes of transportation viable, including driving. But nobody cares.

@SinlessOnslaught He's got a great insight into our misdesign of cities in the US & Canada. I just stumbled onto him and I have to go through all of them. They are interesting, well-constructed, and with a unity of video & voice-over which is refreshing.

I just don’t understand how the OP can try and engage in a “discussion” without knowing what the facts are. Lame at best. Education doesn’t seem to be a priority for them and I don’t think it’s just their past either. Not exactly a life long learner.

While it's true that not all online videos have a basis in fact, these videos are very detailed & verifiable. I am definitely interested in livable, sustainable communities, and the information/arguments are first startling, then intriguing, then maddening.

I need to go further in looking into this.

@SomeMichGuy the surge in firearms sales isn’t helping but I do understand that a lot of the statistics are affected by the pandemic. I just saw 3 stories about homicides where guns were used in the past 2-3 days. The one in Phoenix Arizona was disturbing to see because the security cameras caught a lot of the incident. The 3 children and 2 adults in the Maryland case of homicide x4 + suicide is sickening and the Double homicide in the eastern Bay Area by a 24 yo Alameda County Sheriff’s officer who’s now sitting in the same jail that he was working in only days before is baffling and sad for the victims. I just can’t understand people that take lives and and throw away their own when life is so precious and sacred. I do hope that justice prevails in the case of the cop but the other 2 shooters took the easy way out and so they don’t have to pay for their actions which is frustratingly hard to stomach. Things are bad all over and yet some people have found ways to make it worse. I hope things change for the better but I just don’t know how they will. 😔
