Americans love the idea of freedom
A car gives you freedom
A car gives you freedom

@AthrillatheHunt Actually, the US loves monopolies. Standard oil destroyed public transit so you had to buy are care to fill their pockets. The road trip bullshit was propaganda after the fact.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow monopolies ? Most cars in USA are Japanese .

@AthrillatheHunt 🤦♂️ RIght because sales trends now is so relevant to events that started 100 years ago.
And all US auto makers and most of the European ones are comprised of 3 companies. At the time Standard Oil was the monopoly behind all of them. They even bankrolled prohibition to kill alternative fuel research. Fun fact, prohibition was lifted literally the day after the last non fossil fuel vehicle was cancelled.
The American automotive industry was entirely artificially created.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow the days of Carnegie and Rockefeller are long gone dude.

@AthrillatheHunt The impact of what they did is not. That is like saying if Jeff Bezos retires Amazon is magically irrelevant overnight. Not how it works.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow agreed on the Carnegie and Rockefeller impacts.
Carnegie melon University in Pittsburg and Rockefeller center In nyc come to mind.

@AthrillatheHunt Just like the oligarchs of today that was mostly for PR and tax benefits. Just like the legions of people who worship Elon Musk as some sort of savior, but conveniently ignore the fact he is an incredibly petty and narcissistic man.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I don’t think the people who drive Teslas care at all about his personality traits. They care about his cars impact on the environment. He’s an imperfect messenger just like Orange.
