Prayers ARE answered

Regarding the Texas problem:
Texas Could Secede From U.S. in 2023 as GOP Pushes for Referendum

Texas Republicans are pushing for a referendum to decide whether the state should secede from the U.S.

The demand for Texans to be allowed to vote on the issue in 2023 was one of many measures adopted in the Texas GOP's party platform following last week's state convention in Houston.

Under a section titled "State Sovereignty," the platform states: "Pursuant to Article 1, Section 1, of the Texas Constitution, the federal government has impaired our right of local self-government. Therefore, federally mandated legislation that infringes upon the 10th Amendment rights of Texas should be ignored, opposed, refused, and nullified.

What like our Brexit ?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Barny52 Yes. For years, there's been chatter - serious and not - about Texas ("It's a Whole Other Country") seceding from the US.

They won't because they're an indelible part of and very much enjoy the benefits of living as part of the US. But if Brexit taught us anything, it's that anything is possible.

Texas will likely never even come close to leaving the US, as it enjoys necessary protections and benefits a new country would be utterly without.

@Graylight our Brexit was trouble right from the start, got 0 gains with a lot of cost and fallout all down to a few fanning the flames! Hope you don’t have the trouble we did !

@Barny52 I'm remiss for not paying more attention to it (strong family roots in that part of the world), but from the US perspective it has seemed messy, very confusing and fairly zero-sum for everyone involved.

It seems wanting all the protections and benefits of a country but not its rules is very fashionable these days.
