Prayers ARE answered

Regarding the Texas problem:
Texas Could Secede From U.S. in 2023 as GOP Pushes for Referendum

Texas Republicans are pushing for a referendum to decide whether the state should secede from the U.S.

The demand for Texans to be allowed to vote on the issue in 2023 was one of many measures adopted in the Texas GOP's party platform following last week's state convention in Houston.

Under a section titled "State Sovereignty," the platform states: "Pursuant to Article 1, Section 1, of the Texas Constitution, the federal government has impaired our right of local self-government. Therefore, federally mandated legislation that infringes upon the 10th Amendment rights of Texas should be ignored, opposed, refused, and nullified.

Godspeed, Texas.

Did they come up with a plan to carve out Austin and Houston? Because these are the two cities feeding their redneck asses.

@Northwest Texas is extremely profitable all over. Texas produces the most beef in our nation and that aint Austin or Houston.
Oil refineries, Space technology in Brownsville area and NASA.
Boeing, the list is too long.
Btw alot of republicans and people that you might call rednecks built, work in, run, contribute to Austin and Houston.
These people who just came here aint built nothing

@REMsleep Should eat less meat.
Must use less oil.
California have ample aeronautical and space technology and facilities.

No one's talking about those who "just came here." And anyone not content to live on Authoritarian Survivor Island are free to leave before the lines are drawn. As for the rest, progress follows evolution, so we're not too worried on that score.

On the upside, you'll have all the churches you can stand already built and just waiting for God's Chosen.

@REMsleep Breakdown of the 2020 Travis County results:

Joe Biden: 72%
Donald J. Trump: 27%

If you limit it to Austin alone, the numbers for Biden are higher

These people who just came here aint built nothing

I will add delusional to the Texas GOP party platform.

@Northwest We have liberals in Florida, too. We'd all happily sell and migrate if it meant keeping conservatives quiet by granting them exactly what they want.

Oh yeah. I spent several weeks in Florida/Austin in May and June. Beef aside, the MAGA commenter seems to be detached from reality, when it comes to where NASA is and how the incomers flipped Houston to liberal city with a gay mayor (can we say that). Hint: it's called education.

I don't eat meat.

@Northwest What are you proving? I am not a republican and I am a born and raised Houstonian.
I think that you misunderstood my point.
I voted for Biden reluctantly because I dislike him but that has nothing to do with what I said. It still remains true that the industry of Texas was not built by the people that just came here. Many voters that vote Democrat are not liberal in Texas.

And that's the point I am arguing. In fact, cowboy studliness notwithstanding, and setting oil aside, the new Texas industry IS set by the newcomers. The same goes for Washington my state. FYI: the state of Texas generates 1/3rd of its power needs from wind farms.

15 years ago, the biggest thing in Austin, was SxSW. Now, it's the tech industry. A coupe of decades before Austin, it was Houston.

It's also funny that you mention NASA and Boeing. The latter's Texas activities were set by the formers, and how both would fare in a future country of Texas. Hint: NASA.
