Since you provided no criteria other than "every American" I will define my assumptions.
Every American = all 330 million without regard to age of mental faculty.
Gun = using an AR-15 style as the standard since that is fresh in everyones mind.
So my answer to your question is there would be carnage, bodies rotting in the streets waiting for burial.
Why?
Imagine young children with an AR-15, how many playground arguments would be settled with death?
Imagine every felon or psychopath or dementia sufferer with such a weapon.
How many domestic disputes would result in the slaughter of the family?
Arming every American with such weapons would plunge our society into anarchy with would be feudal warlords vying for dominance.
