Interesting thing about race relations. Racism is not dependent on you noticing.

Fun fact, in 1967 a poll was done that found that over 50% of white Americans believed whites and blacks had achieved racial equality in the US. So that means when Dr. King gave his "I have a dream " speech, more than half of all whites were standing around confused about what black people were upset about.

White privilege is not dependent on you noticing it.

Racism ceased to exist when discussing it became inconvenient for me. Racism is over because I don't want to talk about it anymore. Haven't we done enough for black Americans already? Everything was fine until Obama re-invented racism. In fact, I'm going to call anyone who draws attention to present-day racism a "racist" to shut them up. -SW right-wingers.
@SW-User Sounds depressingly accurate.

Helloooo - we elected a black president, didn't we? Racism is over.

[This message brought to you by Americans for Sarcasm. No conservatives were harmed in the making of this message.)
@Graylight Sure, but this message is good enough that some who call themselves "Conservatives" really might be harmed because of this message.

Your sarcasm, imo, is spot on, with the modern generation that calls themselves "Conservatives" playing on voters' ignorance of history and short attention spans.

You can literally throw out just about anything these days, repeat it enough, and it'll "sound good" if it supports their POV.

Admittedly, it's not entirely a one side thing, and "libs" (and I use that term loosely) use repetition and lack of context as well, but I don't think it's an equal "both sides" thing when you factor in "liberal" control over educational institutions and the antagonism towards rational thought.

Good point. It goes to show how privilege, and undoubtedly some level of bigotry, clouds one's vision on the topic. It's crazy how so many white people thought blacks had achieved equality in 1967
@deadgerbil Very true. Apparently at least a part of it was people thinking the civil rights act of 64 magically fixed everything.

Minor nitpick, but it's reasonable to assume that the sampling of white people attending the speech of a civil rights leader would be weighted towards the portion of them who did not believe equality had been achieved.

The speech was in 1963
@redredred And your actual positions you have taken here also don't line up with your claims to be a libertarian either so it is a non sequitur.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow unlike idiotic leftists (but I repeat myself) libertarians are not in lockstep with each other so there is some variation among us. You crybabies call anyone who disagrees with you nazis unknowing that nazis are left wing authoritarians (but I repeat myself)

You guys are just looking for a government that acts as a parent to you since you know deep in your hearts that you are both afraid of freedom and unworthy of it.
