The Dems slept on Jan 6 for eighteen months, now they're dragging it all up for election time. Are you voting Dem?

How pathetic.
The left has been talking about it since it happened. The right has been pretending it was a tourist visit.

How I will vote is nobody's business.

@Spunkylama he can pick candidates, he's head of the Republicans.
He's quoted on the news each day. It was the Dems responsibility to change that. Again with the nothing and you feel entitled to my vote!

Yeah? How'd that work out in GA?

@Changeisgonnacome
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@Vin53 whatever. I'm not hoping Murka changes.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I'm not democrat but this shit has been in the news nonstop for eighteen months
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Changeisgonnacome What decisions or government action would be necessary?

A bunch of people taken in by a literal con artist tried to stage the worst coup in human history, broke into the Capitol, milled about aimlessly, and wandered off before getting arrested. The system actually worked to stop this from happening.

Also why wouldn't the dems bring this up leading into the midterms that's literally how politics work. "Hey remember when the other guys tried to install Trump as King? Yeah that was weird."
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@CountScrofula LoL! Nothing more than what the Dems did-. Nothing about everything!- is ever needed. Go Murka.

Actually, if you look at the details, you'll see months and months of Republican foot dragging and delaying tactics.

People in Congress originally proposed a joint House & Senate committee to investigate Jan 6, but Senate republicans blocked it with filibusters.

So the House went ahead; the Jan 6 House committee was formed on July 1, 2021. Trump and his associates continued their delaying tactics.

For example, when the committee was subpoenaing documents from Trump and his associates. Trump used every delaying tactic in the book, bringing cases thru multiple courts all the way up to SCOTUS before eventually turning over the documents.

So it wasn't until Jan 20, 2022 that the committee finally got access to the Trump documents. All that delay was due to Trump and republicans.
@Changeisgonnacome What is the appropriate proportionate response for a failed insurrection?
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@ElwoodBlues. The non violent, environmentalist, anti gun, pro socialism majority takes over the government.
@Changeisgonnacome
So no punishment for the insurrectionists then?

Now, look, gentle troll. This panel has been working since shortly after the incident. Every trial has a pre-trial phase. And make no mistake; this is a trial of the GOP.
Vin53 · M
It's been a constant news story for the last 18 months, just not on the news venues you tune into, obviously.
Yes, because I rather incompetency than fascist rule.
Not this time.
