Who makes up 'militias' whether regulated or not? Answer: Citizens. And if EVER there was a need to protect the security of a free state or states, it is today's America.

@RogueLoner Also, no militia or militias can take on the forces of the US government, so they will have to rely on guerrilla tactics same as the Revolutionaries did against the British . That is where the individual "personal" protection weapons come into play.
