In most place plastic caps don’t go in the same recycling place as the bottles.

The European Union, for example, is requiring that caps be attached to some plastic bottles as part of its directive on single-use plastics. Companies have until the end of 2024 to comply.

@Darksideinthenight2 I understand, but I bet the point is to make the entire unit recyclable, to reduce the problem of the plastic caps (which usually aren't recyclable).
