They wanted to restrict law-abiding 18-year-olds from being allowed to own a rifle even though they will never shoot up a school with it.
But they won't even consider a proven fact that they glamorize incidences like this and cause copycat crimes.
They found out a very long time ago there is a large group of people that are very impressionable to things like this.
