Especially in Chicago, the politicians always seem to deflect their own responsibility for chronic bad policy, instead blaming regular citizens whose behavior is in no way tied to whatever the latest crisis happens to be. A politician such as Lori Lightfoot will never acknowledge that she is largely to blame for her city's ongoing gun violence, so she maneuvers to foist the blame onto her ideological opponents, and the media apparatus enables her. This is why Chicago's inner city never gets any better.
