Texas Failed To Fix Their Power Grid After Their Massive Failure Several Winters Ago--Six Power Plants Went Offline Yesterday In The Heat Wave

After all, Governor Abbott doesn't want to tell electrical generators that they must spend money to prevent massive failures that kill people. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has asked residents to raise thermostats to 78 degrees Fahrenheit or higher between 3pm and 8pm on Saturday and Sunday and avoid using larger appliances.

But Abbott this morning bragging about sending immigrants to DC.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Fukfacewillie Is he still busing them free of charge on taxpayer money?
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@windinhishair They sure love stunts.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@windinhishair No. Now Governor Wheels is asking for contributions. I emailed his office asking about a free ticket to DC. They never responded.

@Fukfacewillie The other stunt was to inspect every single truck coming in from Mexico in the Lower Valley, delaying incoming shipments to the point where produce was rotting in the trucks. So companies shifted their routes further west to New Mexico and Arizona, bypassing Texas and costing the state tens of millions of dollars in fees. So Abbott's stunts not only are infantile, they cost the taxpayers of the state large amounts of income.

@Crazywaterspring Good for you. Abbott was probably too busy to answer your email getting ready for the Trump Adoration Event in Austin today. A pro-Roe v. Wade rally is also happening at the Capitol in Austin. I'm hoping that the two groups don't cross paths--it could get ugly.

@windinhishair Wheels is up for reelection. He is a crappy politician with an R behind his name. They'll probably reelect him.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Crazywaterspring Probably so, unfortunately. I'd love to see Beto win. He would make a great governor.

@windinhishair The Duck Dynasty rejects love their guns.
@windinhishair ...and Texans get less fresh produce presumably...?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Crazywaterspring Texas definitely has a gun fetish. You can even open carry on the University of Texas campus now, where in the late 1960s a student took a cache of weapons up to the Tower and killed and wounded dozens of people.

Apparently Abbott had to divert power in order to transport the immigrants to DC 🤦‍♀️

@Fukfacewillie
@windinhishair oh, yeah...right...wow.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy Or get it less fresh as it takes a few days to make its way into the state from the west. And it isn't just produce--it is everything shipped by truck from Mexico. Lots of commodities are made in Mexico, especially in maquiladoras along the border, then shipped across to the US.
@windinhishair Yes, my point.

@Crazywaterspring one should cool oneself off with some heat-reflecting open carry
