In retirement, they had criticized the president. They would have been disgraced and possibly faced long prison sentences. Oh, wait a minute. Did I say President Putin? I meant to say President Trump wanted to do this. Until his Secretary of Defense talked him out of it.

I love how Trump selects, nominates, and hires Esper, and keeps him in office for 16 months, despite saying

“He would do anything I wanted, that’s why I called him ‘Yesper.’ He was a lightweight and figurehead, and I realized it very early on.”

Gosh, dude, if your new Sec'y of Defense isn't one of "the best and most serious people" then why not fire him and replace him with someone better? Why did Trump wait until after losing the election to fire "a lightweight and figurehead"??
