Forty Mile Long Russian Military Convoy North of Kyiv Is Most Juicy Military Target Since the Iraqis Fled Kuwait City.

"Logistics problems are stalling a massive Russian convoy that's pushing its way toward Kyiv, according to a senior U.S. defense official. The convoy, which has been measured as stretching for 40 miles, is apparently being hampered by fuel and food shortages.

"The news comes as Russia continues to concentrate attacks on the large Ukrainian cities of Kyiv and Kharkiv.

"As night fell on Ukraine on Tuesday, Russia's large convoy was still about 18 miles north of Kyiv — representing little or no change from Monday, the official said. The official added that some elements within the military column are "literally out of gas" and having difficulty feeding their troops."

All that time building their forces, and they forgot to supply them. Good, fuck 'em. They expected Ukraine to crumble in a day and instead found resistance. Now Russia's new strategy is to flood social media with propaganda.
Hmmm... Those woods would make some nice cover for an ambush.

A half-dozen Ukrainian MiGs can turn that highway into chaos, with the ambush waiting. Ukraine has the jets, but it would be difficult to get enough troops into place. Only in the cover of darkness.
@beckyromero If they even get to Kyiv they themselves might ask for asylum and refugee status. I never would have thought Russia would be this bad.

It does beg the question just what is going on with the Russian military.
Logistics certainly plays a part. An army moves on fuel and food. The army fails if the soldier has failed, is unwilling to continue, and low on morale, but most egregiously questions their superiors and their part as soldiers in the campaign.
How true, uncertain but alleged sabotage of vehicles and fuel by Russian troops themselves. Serious morale problems. And reportedly troops in Crimea will not support the invasion.

Mines, IEDs, snipers, drones, ... They have lots of options to wreck their day.

Sorry, I have to disagree. China only backs Russia when their mutual interests are at stake. They might see the war in Ukraine as an "opportunity." But they are probably not ready, militarily, to invade Taiwan just yet. If anything, this may mess with their timetable and a belligerent Russia is virtually certain to lead to increased U.S. military spending, which not exactly a good thing for China.

@beckyromero Yeah the only thing keeping the Russian air force out of Ukraine is the anti-aircraft weaponry.

It's going to take more than one fighter jet to blast that convoy. It won't be as easy as what we did to the Iraqi army fleeing Kuwait.
