@Extant1

Too busy watching Trump's suggestions about nuking hurricanes, I suppose?
Extant1 · M
@beckyromero no, I don’t think I watch anything as much as witness that poor man’s decline. It’s horribly sad, and no fan! I actually hate that this will be how he’s remembered… he deserved better

Biden will be remembered as the president who defeated a wanna-be tyrant.
Extant1 · M
No he won’t …
And at your age you are going to live long enough to see that @beckyromero

@beckyromero I honestly think that history will treat him much like Carter. A man not cut out for the position offered him but a statesman nonetheless who used his influence to create a life of good.

@Graylight I will definitely agree with Statesman, but I don’t think it will be quite as gentle as it was for Carter. The divisions now run much deeper and far more emotionally charged.

We're only one-year in to potentially two-terms for Biden.

As for Carter, he would be remembered much differently today if Operation Eagle Claw, the rescue mission in April 1980 to get the hostages out of Iran, had succeeded. Even heading into October, Carter led Reagan in the polls by four points. (And don't forget, John Anderson pulled more support away from Carter than Reagan).

Reagan is remembered for a landslide victory. But in reality he barely squeaked over 50% in the popular vote. There were enough electoral votes available in states near the margin for error that if shifted to Carter would have resulted in his re-election.
