The problem with illegals coming often lies within the country they enter, firstly it is big business for the people who run it, secondly there are always places that rely on them as labour for jobs that the people in the country don't want to do. They are also cheap labour so profit is larger.
Back to the question though if they come as illegals and then try to sort themselves out immediately, and become citizens of the country then it has got to be looked at as if they were born citizens with equal status, it they are paying their taxes etc.

@Longleggedlady this hit all the high points. yes there are some who have come in and made a contribution. there are others who just take.
