@Oberon1 I accept the not guilty verdict, but I don't pretend that Rittenhouse was innocent as you do. Rittenhouse was illegally armed, and crossed state lines with the intent of hunting human beings he saw as deserving of being killed. Once he put himself in position to do so, he was legally entitled under existing law to defend himself. If Rittenhouse had been killed after discharging his weapon, his killer(s) would have also been justified in self-defense. It is a tragic episode all the way around, and Rittenhouse is not someone to be celebrated.

Natural selection occurs all the time. Just look at how it is weeding out the morally weak anti-vaxxers.

@Oberon1 On a one-inch technicality, in Wisconsin the weapon was not illegal, as a result of poor drafting of the law. But the weapon he possessed was illegal in Illinois, where he brought it from, so yes, it is correct to call it an illegal weapon.

The virus has been attacking solid red areas of the country disproportionately for months, killing primarily the unvaccinated. I assume you have noticed that once or twice. Definitely natural selection at work.
