Does the USA have more democracy than China?

How can you tell?

China holds elections but it's a single-party system so everyone who gets voted in is from the same party. The elections are also only local so no public say over national leadership.

The US holds elections but it's a two-party system. The key of course is the two parties are not particularly different from one another. However, the US does have national elections and they do matter, so point to the US.

@CountScrofula States run the US election,. China has national elections

@Stopmakingsense I'm fairly sure there is no way in China to vote in a way that would remove the General Secretary from power.

@CountScrofula no way for me to remove the two parties of the oligarchy

@Stopmakingsense Right I agree with you. I'm an anti-capitalist and hate the US political system. I also think "China bad" is a really poor view of a very, very complicated place.

That said, I think it's comfortable to say that the US is a poor at best democracy while China is barely a democracy at all.
