Viscosity aside, the Taliban was always going to inherit the weapons we armed the ANA with. That was known the moment we decided to leave. We didn’t even have the authority to remove them. That latest and greatest is the property of the Afghan people, and if Taliban is the government they want, well 🤷♂️
Not to mention that we haven’t had the necessary in country personnel to disarm the ANA for years. I think people forget that Trump withdrew pretty much all of our combat troops and we were down to 2500 people. But of course - we should have re-invaded, right?
