So, now Biden wants compulsory vaccination of everyone.

Not for everyone, and not even compulsory. Those who choose not to be vaccinated can opt to test each week. This is for federal employees, large companies and healthcare workers. It's been done before, there's legal precedence and mandated immunizations were started by the man who helped found the country, George Washington. Get over it, give a moment's thought to your fellow man and do something right.

@Graylight It's interesting to me how most people don't know about George Washington's involvement with the small pox vaccine.

@Graylight yeah, if you don't mind losing your job, you can opt out.

@boudinMan Depends upon where you work. If you're a federal employee, a healthcare worker, or work for a private company that requires it, yep, you'll lose your job. But, jobs are aplenty outside of those places. Many businesses are having trouble finding people willing to work so, that can be someone's fallback plan if they feel strongly about not getting the vaccine. They'll just have to take a drastic pay cut probably.

@boudinMan You are free to opt out, and if you do, you accept the consequences of your decision. Just like other decisions you make.

Necessity not only authorizes but seems to require the measure, for should the disorder infect the Army we should have more to dread from it, than from the Sword of the Enemy.

@Northwest Logical.

@windinhishair if you're free to opt, then why have the mandate at all?
@Graylight it's for some federal employees. Biden's order on federal workers applies to employees of the executive branch. The House of Representatives and the Senate belong to the separate legislative branch, and the courts to the judicial branch of the federal government.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said at a press conference on April 29 that the House couldn't require members to be vaccinated. Video clips of those remarks gained renewed attention online following Biden's announcement.

"So—so here is the thing. We are—we cannot require someone to be vaccinated. That's just not what we can do. It is a matter of privacy to know who is or who isn't," Pelosi said.

@boudinMan Because it is necessary to protect public health, given the lack of response from anti-vaxxers and deniers. You can choose to opt out, and you suffer the consequences for doing so (e.g., loss of job, loss of ability to travel, etc.).
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@windinhishair you mean sorta like if there was no mandate? got it.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@boudinMan Only if there are no consequences to remaining a threat to others. But fortunately there ARE consequences for their selfish actions.
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@windinhishair the point is... why make it a mandate if you can opt out of it? their (biden admin) communications have been a complete and total disaster.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@boudinMan Because we don't forcibly hold people down and give them an injection. The mandate is not only appropriate by necessary. But deniers and antivaxxers who still refuse should face restrictions in travelling and assembly to protect others.
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@windinhishair and would you have supported that under trump? even biden didn't support a vaccine mandate until he did.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@boudinMan I would support it under anyone. It is the right thing to do for the right reason.

The reason Biden didn't start with a vaccine mandate is that it was unbelievable that such a large number of Cult members and other deniers and antivaxxers would refuse a potential life-saving vaccine. But they did and do, necessitating the mandate.
