No masks don’t work against covid
@Jake966 Tell that to the kids dying from Covid.
Jake966 · 56-60, M
@Grateful4you why ? Does that make things better for them ? When the mask mandate first went out 75 to 85% of people getting the virus were wearing masks
@Jake966 Those vaccinated but getting Covid have shown to have a greatly reduced risk of severe symptoms. Please review current data.

@Grateful4you I have , a large group of people were celebrating July 4th together and a lot of them came down with covid , 75% of the infected had been vaccinated and they got it just as bad as the unvaccinated and could transmit the virus just as easy as the unvaccinated . That was a CDC study . This took place in Massachusetts
@Jake966 Not going to argue. Stay well.
Jake966 · 56-60, M
@Grateful4you you too ! There is nothing to argue about anyway
AbbySvenz · F
Only a handful of those July4 cases in Massachusetts were hospitalized, and one of the main points was that they were not masked at that gathering. That is the report that reversed the CDC guidance on the vaccinated not needing masks @Jake966
@AbbySvenz (Came a small but significant voice of sanity)
Jake966 · 56-60, M
@AbbySvenz and it’s been proven that covid molecules are so small that they can get through a mask
AbbySvenz · F
Viral particles ride on respiratory droplets and aerosols. Those are what masks trap:

@Jake966
@Jake966 Odd that it's "proven" without any affirmations from the expert virologist I've seen interviewed. Not saying you're wrong. What is your source?
Jake966 · 56-60, M
@Grateful4you various interviews I’ve seen on different sources
AbbySvenz · F
Also, recent massive real world study done in Bangladesh also proves the effectiveness of masking up.

@AbbySvenz then why in the initial wave of this thing 85% of those hospitalized wore masks ?
@AbbySvenz Oh good a REAL source. Thanks hon.

In the US? The CDC didn’t recommend wearing masks until, like, March? Genie was already out of the bottle by then@Jake966
Jake966 · 56-60, M
@AbbySvenz people were wearing masks before that
AbbySvenz · F
then why in the initial wave of this thing 85% of those hospitalized wore masks ?

Running through a series of data points listed in the CDC’s report, Carlson said during his Oct. 13 show: "Almost everyone — 85% — who got the coronavirus in July was wearing a mask, and they were infected anyway. So clearly this doesn't work the way they tell us it works."

The CDC report showed a correlation between testing positive for the coronavirus and going to bars and restaurants, where masks can’t be effectively worn. That counters Carlson’s claim that the July cases were “wearing a mask” and “infected anyway.”

Tucker Carlson is not a legitimate information source.

Sporadically. Most local mandates did not begin until late spring/early summer @Jake966
@AbbySvenz Had a feeling Carlson would somehow make an entrance. This disinformation for political gain really needs to stop. Kids are dying and these morons are using them as pawns.
@Jake966
and it’s been proven that covid molecules are so small that they can get through a mask
and it’s also been proven that covid particles are embedded in droplets, so that trapping the droplets also traps the much smaller covid particles.

But rather than argue theory let's look at the effects of masks.

Duke U studied one million school children and found masks to be pretty effective:
