If you’re against governments forcing women to wear burqas or hijabs then you should be against governments banning women from wearing them too

I’m sure most of you know about France’s burqa ban, but did you know that they passed a bill to ban girls under 18 from wearing hijabs in public?

Just as I’m against religious authoritarianism, I can’t stand this breed of enforced secularism. Do I like hijabs/burqas/niqabs? No, which is why I’ll never wear one, but do I think other women should be banned from expressing their Muslim faith by wearing one? Hell no!

I also take issue with the fact that ALL religious symbols are banned in schools, you can’t even wear your favorite cross or Star of David necklace. And yarmulkes are out of the question. How can you be for separation of church and state and yet stifle people’s freedom of religious expression?

Women aren't, children are. And rightfully so in my opinion.

@EuphoricTurtle how rightfully so? Kids should be able to express their religion as well as grown women. You seriously believe a 17 year old shouldn’t have the right to religious freedom? That’s bullshit

@EuphoricTurtle If you want to ban one type of religious clothing, seems fair you ban them all.

Most of it is silly anyway, no big loss.

@Zeuro So you seriously believe a seven year old understands the principles of why a female showing hair is considered immodest religiously? If a religion is so weak it can't withstand the loss of the outward display of head cloth, it is a very weak religion.

@Zeuro 17 year olds? Maybe. Children? No. They didn't choose a religion, they merely follow whatever their parents believe. That's not religious freedom, that's indoctrination.

@QuixoticSoul I agree with you, no child should have their religion chosen for them and so all religious clothing on children should be banned.

@EuphoricTurtle I like consistency 👍
