@Picklebobble2 not that either is right, but do you really see a moral equivalence between torturing a known terrorist and killing a woman for not wearing a burka?
Maybe instead we should have paraded them naked down the streets of Kabul and other villages in Afghanistan with signs around them saying, "I've whipped women," "I've raped women," "I've stoned women."
I don't support torture, like water-boarding and electric shocks.
But killing THAT enemy in the field of battle? The more the better.
The Taliban are no better than the Nazis. To HELL with them.
@beckyromero No argument here. But if you’re going to go to war, at least take it seriously, route out those responsible and put them before a jury of their peers and do it properly.
If the rule of law is what you think you’re doing there.
Because right now I’m looking back through the history of this adventure and there’s not a whole lot to show for the efforts of those who fought and died with a flag on their shoulder
@Picklebobble2 you seem a bit confused about the distinction between war, where one’s adversaries are enemy combatants, and you’re shooting at each other, and a criminal tribunal.
route out those responsible and put them before a jury of their peers and do it properly.
I agree (not of their peers though; the Taliban wouldn't convict any Taliban).
Give them a fair trial... and then hang 'em like we did at Nuremberg.
We botched it. No doubt about it. Because we tried to win a war against terrorists and rebuild a nation ravaged by years of war and oppression cheaply.
@beckyromero Again, no argument here. But you didn’t do that did you. This became an effort to protect American business interests, that’s why every ally slowly withdrew its support.
And as someone else pointed out on here yesterday, you’ve had twenty years to pull out, and now people who have been advised to get out for the last twenty years are worried about the repercussions after the troops leave.
@Kumbayakid Nothing to do with morals it’s to do with the rule of law. I don’t like sharia law anymore than I like other religious piety controlled nations. But if that’s the aim of the game then at least be honest about that being the reason for being there ! You might find the people you’re ‘protecting’ might actually stand beside you as you fight !
