Absolute Monarchy vs Parliamentary Mess

Royal umbrella: sturdy, well-built, tends both human dignity and the environment, optimised by centuries of design.

Parliamentary umbrella: plastic, cheap, ill-thought-out, designed for profit and expediency rather than the good of the human person and planet he inhabits.

Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government - except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.

@ElwoodBlues Every form of governance is just as good as the person doing the governing and the people being governed. It's people that matter, not forms or systems.

When countries have great people they do brilliantly under monarchies and when they have bad people they do abysmally under democracies... and vice versa.

Perhaps the one thing that can be said for democracy is that it gives societies the least violent method of self-correction... at least on paper.
